As part of my continuing habit of taking controversial positions on touchy subjects; I wanted to share my thoughts on vore in a less charged and more organized form. Typically when explaining my thoughts on this subject those involved in the discussion get touchy and start attempting to attack me personally, rather than my views or opinions. As a start; in no place in this post do I try to prohibit people from voring; this is simply my reaction to the activity as well as why I don’t participate or condone it.
For those unaware of what vore is in the content of the furry/scaley fandom; it’s basically taking the predator/prey model into role-play. Basically; someone consumes someone else, or part of someone else, within an RP; this is either done as a dominance activity, for sexual reasons (I’ll come back to in a moment), or less commonly as a trust exercise.
My personal belief is you cannot condone vore without condoning yiff as well (yiff being sexual role-play); because the same prohibitions that many apply to yiff will apply equally to vore. Both are listed as sins in the Bible (at least when carried out IRL, or when lusted after in your mind), both also can equally apply the “well it’s just for fun”, “it’s not actually real” and “I wouldn’t really do that” defenses as well. At the end of the day, you’re going to have to say both are OK, or both aren’t from a Christian perspective.
And, to anyone who would say vore doesn’t involve lust like yiff would; I need only point out that many vorer’s combine both; and vore styles such as anal vore and other adult variations exist. This basically turns vore a fetish, akin to bondage (which some would argue isn’t always sexual either…).
Aside from the above issues; there are other, perhaps more personal issues, I have with vore. For one, the act itself is highly controlling and manipulative; given most scenarios will involve the more “powerful” avatar always consuming the other. This typically ends with a perspective that the larger and more powerful are better, which ends up being highly masochist and speciesist. Because of this vore between the same people can become increasing repetitive and as the human need for new experience pushes in produces a heavy temptation for more adult and individually demeaning situations.
And, as a last personal note; to those who will end up telling me not to be “judgmental” of those who do practice vore…sorry, I’m going to be; and, I have a logical reason to be. For the same reason I don’t enter a lion cage covered in fresh animal blood, if I know someone is into vore; it’s going to dramatically change how I’m willing to engage in text-based role play with them. Depending on if their entire character is based around that concept, it may prevent RPing completely. Because; at the end of the day, irregardless of anything else I don’t vore.
